Pabon for Berwyn

Robert J. Pabon

Alderman Pabon is a lifelong Berwyn resident who is raising his three beautiful children with his wife on the north side of town. Over the years he has served his community as a youth coach, community organizer, school board member and activist.  Since taking office in 2021, he has dedicated himself to improving the quality of life in Berwyn and fighting for community voice at city hall.

As Democratic Committeeperson, Rob will fight for a Democratic Party that stands with working families, instead of special interests.

Affordability

Taxes and rising costs are getting out of hand. Our neighbors deserve to have a good quality of life and stay rooted in their community, without fear of getting displaced. Billionaires need to pay their fair share so regular people don’t need to cover the tab.

As an organizer Pabon has fought for affordable housing, against the overuse of TIFs, and served as an ally to tenants in his community.

As Berwyn Township Committeeperson, Robert J. Pabon will fight for a Democratic Party that commits to serving working class people, not big monied interests on the local or national level.

Protecting Immigrant Families

Rob believes that we must do everything we can to fight back against the Trump administration’s attack on our undocumented neighbors. We can do this by passing bold legislation, getting rid of problematic practices and contracts, and supporting local rapid response efforts.

It also includes justice for the victims who have been kidnapped by federal agents and pushing the Democratic Party to abolish ICE.

As 5th Ward Alderman, Pabon has passed Welcoming City amendments, proposed measures to terminate the city's contract with Flock Group Inc, and advocated for funding for new arrivals.

As Berwyn Township Democratic Committeeperson he will push the Democratic Party to reimagine immigration policy. "Immigrants are not a threat. This isn't a security issue. They are our neighbors and our policies should be humane and provide real paths toward citizenship." - Robert J. Pabon

Universal Healthcare

The Democratic Party needs to commit to fighting for more equitable access to healthcare. No one should have to deal with the crippling debt of health care costs. The system needs to be reimagined to center the well being of people over profits.

"Our country is so behind other nations when it comes to this issue and the problem is simple, greed. We need to start looking at our health as crucial part of our society, something that can improve other aspects of our homes, communities, and country; not something big pharmaceuticals and big insurance can make profit from." - Robert J. Pabon

As a nonprofit professional, Pabon has worked on and supported community plans that take into account the social determinants of health. He understands that access to quality health care is one crucial part of the puzzle but education, job opportunities, economic stability, community safety all play a role in health outcomes. This is why the Democratic Party needs to take a wholistic approach to health and healthcare, ensuring that this is a priority moving forward.

As Berwyn Township Democratic Committeeperson, Pabon will fight for a Democratic Party that champions people centered policies like Medicare for All or Universal Healthcare. He will work with advocates and organizers to make sure residents have what they need. Ensuring their voices are heard by their current elected officials and at the ballot box.
